Cortéz Stars for Yinzers in 5-2 Win
|
The Monroeville Yinzers knocked off the Levittown Blue Dragons, 5-2, at The Cave at Levittown. Jesús Cortéz was a big reason Monroeville won. The right fielder went 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Juan Jose Gómez snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 3-3 on the season. Picking up the save was Jack Herer, his 13th.
Cortéz had a game-changing triple in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Henry Missing, he banged a 2-run triple to right-center, giving the Yinzers a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd triple of the year for Cortéz.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Cortéz.
The Yinzers go to 24-35 with the win.
