|
Getting an impressive start from Manuel García, Laredo beat Columbia by the score of 5-0. The winning pitcher was García, now 6-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. The Silver A-leading Hawks are 54-34.
Alonso Gómez, the 22-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gómez contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth inning to put Laredo up, 2-0.
Gómez told a Laredo Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
