Edwards Pops Two Homers in 5-4 Win for Washington
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Washington Generals and Smoky Mountain Hobeaus.
Allen Edwards helped his team muscle past the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 5-4. In the game, the Washington designated hitter went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Don Lucas. He's now 1-0. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits for the Generals. Nobuatsu Toshishai closed the game out for Washington, earning his 8th save.
Edwards had a timely hit for Washington in the top of the sixth. With Smoky Mountain trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-0 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Washington.
Edwards told a Washington Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The win elevated the Generals to 44-39.
