Commodores Top River Rats in Extras, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Put-In-Bay Commodores and the Columbia River Rats, pitcher Fernando Sandoval was the difference between victory and defeat. The Put-In-Bay right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Commodores win. The Commodores now have a record of 35-47.
Put-In-Bay needed the clutch hitting of Brian Day to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Commodores on top, 3-1. For the game, Day had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
Day told the Put-In-Bay Chronicle: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
