Möttölä, Jets Too Much for Chiefs
|
The Kennesaw Jets defeated the Caldwell Chiefs, 10-7, at Pipers Ballpark today. Leading the charge for Kennesaw was shortstop Kaaleppi Möttölä. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Kennesaw reliever Rafael Galván was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Thad Parker took the loss. Billy Richardson finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Kennesaw used the clutch hitting of Shawn Kelley to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Jets ahead, 10-7. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I like our moxie," said Jets manager Sherwood Baker.
The victory gives Kennesaw a record of 23-14.
