Generals Beat Hobeaus, 7-1
|
Washington starter Albert Davis put a stranglehold on the Smoky Mountain offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Generals to a 7-1 win. The winning pitcher was Davis, now 1-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. With the win, Washington raised its record to 36-33.
Jim Kelley put Washington in front, 3-0, when he took Rich Frost downtown. His 2-run home run came with no one out in the bottom of the second. It was his 11th home run of the season.
"Albert -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Generals manager Nick Hoskins. "He was the key to us winning."
