Eugene and Columbia duked it out and the Vandals came out victorious.
The Eugene Vandals got a strong performance from pitcher Gian-Carlo Maneilli, who stymied the Columbia offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Columbia Stadium. Luis Boll closed the game out for Eugene, earning his 15th save.
Eugene used the timely hitting of Scott Fletcher to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Vandals on top, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Maneilli told the Eugene Gazette.
The Vandals, at 33-26, sit in 5th place in the Silver A.
