Hawks Eke Out 3-2 Win Versus Put-In-Bay
|
The Laredo Hawks bested the Put-In-Bay Commodores, 3-2, at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. Alonso Gómez was one of the standouts. He was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mike Thomas, 3-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Laredo is in 6th place in the Silver A with a record of 25-22.
Gómez came through for Laredo with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. He hit a full count cutter to left field, staking his team to a 3-1 lead.
Afterward, Hawks manager Leonardo Sánchez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
