Hermit Crabs Go Down to Defeat, 9-6
|
The Delmarva Gallos withstood an impressive performance by Huntington designated hitter Ron Burnett to defeat the Hermit Crabs, 9-6, at The Shell. Burnett belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Jesús Vargas was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Delmarva is now 2-1.
Delmarva used the timely hitting of Greg O'Day to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gallos on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jorge Carranza said.
