The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles withstood an impressive performance by Ft. Polk South left fielder Tony Mendoza to defeat the Thunder Hawks, 7-6, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Mendoza went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a triple. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mercer Island, at 71-24, is 10 games up in the Premier AA.

Mercer Island used the clutch hitting of Steve Lodge to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to give the Screaming Eagles the lead, 7-5. For the game, Lodge had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"There's no quit in this team," said Screaming Eagles manager Jesús Román.
