Squirrel Hill Pierogis starter Gustaf Steur was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the St. Petersburg Thunder, 4-2. Steur went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 9-8. Todd Dean notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Squirrel Hill used the clutch hitting of Mike Sackett to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pierogis ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
In postgame comments to the Squirrel Hill Chronicle, Steur said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
