Pierogis Get One-Run Win at Mercer Island
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis picked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, knocking off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 1-0. On the mound for Squirrel Hill was left-hander Craig Culver, who played a pivotal role in the win. Culver went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-4. Cisco García recorded his 5th save for Squirrel Hill.
Squirrel Hill relied on the hitting of Rodrigo Santana to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pierogis on top, 1-0. For the game, Santana had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Craig is still learning," said Pierogis manager Roy Clay. "The sky's the limit for him."
