Bethesda Hands Ft. Polk South 6-5 Defeat
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks got a sterling performance from shortstop José García, but the Bethesda Atoms still prevailed, 6-5. García was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ángel Franco got the win, improving to 7-3. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Earning his 11th save of the year was Britt Casey.
It could have been a different outcome for Bethesda, had it not been for Adrian Beard, the 25-year old right fielder . Beard contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Bethesda up, 4-3.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Beard.
Bethesda now sits at 39-37, while Ft. Polk South falls to 42-34.
