Thunder Hawks Handle Pilgrims, 7-2
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks bested the Providence Pilgrims, 7-2, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Lasse Karsberg was one of the standouts. He was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mark Brunswick, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Wilson Tamayo recorded the save for Ft. Polk South, his 6th of the season.
The Thunder Hawks got a big at-bat from shortstop José García. For the game, García was 1-1 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season gave Ft. Polk South a 3-2 lead.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," García told the Ft. Polk South Citizen.
Ft. Polk South raised its record to 41-30 with the win.
