Mercer Island Beats Squirrel Hill, 4-1

Starting pitcher Jack Forrest was a major factor in the 4-1 Mercer Island Screaming Eagles triumph over the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. The winning pitcher was Forrest, now 4-0. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Connor Wilson earned the save, his 3rd, for the Screaming Eagles.
The Pierogis had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Screaming Eagles going into the top of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Dave Scott came to the plate. Scott hit a solo home run on a 2-2 fastball from Squirrel Hill hurler Gustaf Steur. It was Scott's 2nd home run of the year.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Forrest. "And vice-versa."
Mercer Island leads the Premier AA by 6½ games.
