Field of the Rawhides was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
Starting pitcher Craig Culver pitched well enough to help the Squirrel Hill Pierogis beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 6-5. Culver picked up the win for Squirrel Hill, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3.
Adam Cunningham dealt the Screaming Eagles a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Squirrel Hill leading 1-0, Cunningham, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in RBI with 44, hit a 1-2 cutter for a 2-run single.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Cunningham. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
The 6th-place Pierogis have won 4 in a row.
