Mariachis Run Win Streak to 6

The Nuevo Mexico Mariachis knocked off the Providence Pilgrims, 5-3, at Field of Plenty. Manuel Peña was a big reason Nuevo Mexico won. The designated hitter went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jeff McFarland, the winner, improved to 7-0. He held Providence to 1 run on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Rusty Williams picked up the save, his 1st.
Peña had a timely hit for Nuevo Mexico in the top of the sixth. With Providence trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 2-1, Nuevo Mexico.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Peña told the Nuevo Mexico Times.
Nuevo Mexico now has a 6-game win streak.
