Thunder Deal Sixshooters 4-1 Defeat
|
Richard Dougherty pitched a gem to lead St. Petersburg to victory over the Westwood Sixshooters, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Dougherty, now 2-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The win puts St. Petersburg at 21-36.
The Thunder got an important contribution from center fielder Tony Hernández, who in the bottom of the third punched a 0-2 changeup into left-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Thunder ahead, 3-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Hernández.
