The St. Petersburg Thunder took it on the chin, losing 10-0 to the Squirrel Hill Pierogis. Gustaf Steur, who is tied for 2nd in the PAA with a 7 quality starts, pitched a strong game for Squirrel Hill. Steur, now 6-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing no runs. The 9th-place Thunder have dropped 8 straight games.
The Pierogis got an important contribution from center fielder Stan James, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 1-0 fastball into right for a bases-clearing double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Pierogis ahead, 7-0.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said James.
