Screaming Eagles Run Win Streak to 9
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles overcame a good performance by Ft. Polk South third baseman Bartolo Ayala to knock off Ft. Polk South, 5-3, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Ayala was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Mercer Island reliever Luis Silva got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Wynn Kelley was tagged with the loss. Earning his 4th save for Mercer Island was Shan-tang Yang.
Mercer Island used the bat of Jordan Hanley to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hanley told the Mercer Island Chronicle.
The first-place Screaming Eagles have won 9 in a row.
