Providence got a strong outing from Rodger Hunter as the Pilgrims defeated the Northville Eclipse, 5-2, at Old-Timers Park. Luiz Palmeiro earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 1-2. The Pilgrims raised their record to 20-32.
Providence used a timely hit from An-yi Zhou to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pilgrims ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It feels good to get this one," Zhou told the Providence Times.
