Mariachis Win at Ft. Polk South, 3-2

In a close game at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis edged the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 3-2. Nuevo Mexico designated hitter Manuel Peña stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3. The winner in relief was Bob Burke. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-2. The win elevated the Mariachis to 25-20.
Nuevo Mexico used the clutch hitting of Joe Goff to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Mariachis the lead, 3-2. For the game, Goff had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Goff.
