Mercer Island and St. Petersburg duked it out and the Screaming Eagles came out victorious.

Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Miguel López hurled his team past the St. Petersburg Thunder, 1-0. Mercer Island's record now stands at 17-6, placing them first in the Premier AA.

Had Roldão Cintra not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cintra hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Screaming Eagles.

López called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
