Benjamin Renninger, the 21-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Renninger contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Nuevo Mexico up, 1-0.
Afterward, Mariachis manager Gus Gibbs was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
