Sixshooters Edge Past Thunder, 2-1
|
The Westwood Sixshooters got a strong performance from pitcher Juan Carmona, who stymied the St. Petersburg offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Sixshooters Stadium. After losing, St. Petersburg is 3-5.
Jud Fisher hit a run-scoring double off Ramiro Valdés in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Sixshooters in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Fisher had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Carmona. "Successful pitchers do it."
