Highlanders Edge Past Rails, 3-2

The Asheville Highlanders beat the Richland Rails, 3-2. Asheville pitcher and Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia, native Arthur Anderson led the way. Ramón Rodríguez, credited with the win, is now 6-4. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Tom Young, credited with the save, is now 4 for 4 in save opportunities.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Rafael Riquelme hit a 1-0 fastball from Vincent Higgins for a run-scoring single. It put Asheville in front, 3-2.
"Every loss stings," said Richland manager Dave Orchard. "This one is no exception."
Richland has now lost 8 consecutive games.
