Curry Lifts Miners to 9-6 Triumph
|
Marquette left fielder Mark Curry was a significant contributor in his team's 9-6 triumph over the Ottawa Nationals. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6 for Marquette. Gonzalo Garibay earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-4. The last-place Nationals have lost 6 consecutive games.
Curry contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Marquette in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 5-4, Curry took a fastball from Anthony Dixon and stroked the home run to left. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Miners to leap in front, 8-5.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Curry. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
