Rails Get Close Win Over Fur Traders, 3-2
|
The Richland Rails had to overcome a fine performance from Tacoma pitcher Wally Moon to grab a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Tacoma. Moon allowed 1 run over 6 innings. Richland reliever Vincent Higgins picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Del Jones shouldered the loss. Eldon Williams picked up the save for Richland, his 16th of the year.
Richland relied on the bat of Meshach Ashpenaz to get the win. The left fielder produced a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rails ahead, 3-2. For the game, Ashpenaz had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Tacoma manager Luis Barroco.
The win makes Richland 28-38.
