Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Highlanders
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs got a superb performance from pitcher Korbin Dallas, but the Asheville Highlanders still won the game, 6-4. Dallas threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Kamiel Wabeke earned the save for Asheville, his 15th. The Highlanders saw their win-loss record go to 29-22. At the same time, the Guinea Pigs fell to 30-21.
Asheville used a clutch hit from Phil Hogan to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"It feels good to get this one," Hogan told the Asheville News.
