Guinea Pigs Top Highlanders, 3-1
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs got a strong performance from pitcher Dario Zorander, who stymied the Asheville offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Experimental Stadium. Zorander, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Jim Nasium earned the save for Gwinnett, his 14th of the year.
Chipping in for Gwinnett was right fielder Ryan Dodson. He stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. For the game, Dodson went 1-3.
"This is a very good team," said Dodson. "We have the chance to do something special."
The win puts Gwinnett at 30-20 this season.
