Highlanders Mow Down Nationals, 9-2
|
Highlanders third baseman Wendell Palmer put his stamp on his team's 9-2 win over the Ottawa Nationals. Palmer went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Asheville in the contest. The winning pitcher was Pabiyan Ajiganoff. His record is now 5-2. The left-hander went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Highlanders. Ryan Long collected save number 2.
Oliver Buss hit a run-scoring double off Victor Robertson in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Highlanders in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Buss had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Kelly Flint.
With the win, Asheville upped its record to 26-19.
