The Virginia Beach Whales went home winners at Rails Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter Liu-liang Lei. Lei stifled the Richland Rails, enabling Virginia Beach to grab the 5-1 win. Bill Turner collected save number 1. With the win, the Whales have a record of 23-21.

Virginia Beach used the bat of Scott Beavis to capture the win. The right fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Whales ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Whales manager Domingo García, "I like our chances."
