Miners Top Nationals, 5-4
|
Nationals Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Marquette Miners and Ottawa Nationals.
The Ottawa Nationals got a superb performance from left fielder Jason Longoria. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Marquette. The Miners won the game, 5-4. Longoria was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Shan-bo Kang snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits. He's now 4-1 on the season. Picking up the save was Jong-beom Park, his 8th.
Marquette relied on the hitting of Héctor Solís to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Miners on top, 5-1. For the game, Solís had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We take it day by day here," said Solís, "and today was a good one for us."
Marquette, at 24-18, occupies third place in the Silver AA.
