The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Marquette Miners, 5-0, in USSL Double A action at Marquette Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Virginia Beach pitcher and Toronto, Canada, native Norm Wells. Wells, now 1-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. With the win, Virginia Beach upped its record to 20-15.

Virginia Beach used a well-timed hit by Neung-uk Yi to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Whales ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Yi said after the game.
