Olympia Gets 3-1 Win
|
The Olympia Ogres racked up a win at Rails Ballpark, bumping off the Richland Rails, 3-1. Ed Emery, who started for Olympia, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Emery, now 4-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 0-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The Ogres improved to 16-17.
The Ogres got an important contribution from third baseman Ken Francis, who in the top of the sixth punched a 1-2 fastball into right for a run-scoring double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Ogres ahead, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Olympia manager Steve Ward said.
