Olympia Ogres starter Raúl Ferrer turned in an exceptional performance against the Virginia Beach Whales at The Ogre Den, resulting in a Olympia win, 3-1. Ferrer picked up the win for Olympia, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Olympia is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Whales had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Ogres going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Roy MacDonald came to the plate. MacDonald hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 slider from Virginia Beach hurler Dan Carter. It was MacDonald's 2nd double of the year.
In comments to the Olympia Herald, MacDonald insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
