Nationals Squelch Turbeaus Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Ottawa Nationals got a magnificent effort from pitcher Harry MacGruder, who kept Gulf Coast hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Nationals win at Nationals Park. MacGruder, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. The Turbeaus drop to 7-8 and continue their mediocre start to the 2045 season.
With Ottawa leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Phil Morrow hit a run-scoring single off Gulf Coast pitcher Bernard Miller. It put the Nationals ahead 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Gulf Coast manager Pancho Vargas.
