The Asheville Highlanders racked up a win at Rails Ballpark, bumping off the Richland Rails, 5-2. Cole Howard, who started for Asheville, pitched effectively for his team. Kamiel Wabeke came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The Rails fall to 6-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Asheville used the timely hitting of Gregor Lennox to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Highlanders on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Lennox.
