Loss to Rails Extends Asheville Losing Streak
Asheville third baseman Robinson Vargas had a good game, even if his team did not. The Highlanders dropped a 5-3 decision to Richland at Rails Ballpark. Vargas was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Richland reliever Ashley Blamey picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Robbie Clark shouldered the loss. Richland has a record of 6-8.

The Rails got an important contribution from shortstop Roger Torres, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a slider into center for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Rails ahead, 5-2.

"It was a good effort all around," said Torres.
