The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys and Sacramento Redlegs put on a pitchers' duel.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys got a magnificent effort from pitcher Luis Sastre, who kept Sacramento hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Squirrel Monkeys win at The Zoo in Syracuse. Sastre, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Ron Plummer got credit for the save for Syracuse. It was his 2nd of the year.
Syracuse took a 2-0 lead on Abhipala Srivastav's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Srivastav hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Sacramento pitcher Ramon Roodenburg visibly frustrated.
"I liked his command," said Syracuse manager Stu Henderson. "Luis was throwing strikes."
The loss makes Sacramento 12-8.
