Sacramento starter Tadamichi Chikafuji put a stranglehold on the Ellenburg offense. The left-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Redlegs to a 2-1 win. Chikafuji, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 5.1 innings of 0-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Sacramento is now 10-5.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Daniel MacKinder had a game-changing hit. The Redlegs center fielder slammed a run-scoring single off José Díaz, making the score 2-0, Sacramento.

MacKinder called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
