The Pawnee ParksNRec withstood an impressive performance by Salt Lake City shortstop David Stone to defeat the Buzz, 5-4, at Spirits Stadium. Stone went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Bill Slaughter. He tossed 108 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Picking up the save was Patrick Carlson, his 3rd.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Gabriel Gonzáles? The Pawnee right fielder had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the ParksNRec on top, 5-1. For the game, Gonzáles had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Gonzáles said.
The loss drops the Buzz to 5-5.
