The Forest City Warriors beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 5-2. Forest City pitcher and Slaton, Texas, native Lance Mascola led the way. With the win, Forest City upped its record to 41-33.

The Warriors got an important contribution from catcher Bob Smith, who in the bottom of the second knocked a full count fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Warriors ahead, 3-0.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Smith.
