Nobles Edge Rocks, 1-0
|
The Bakersfield Nobles got a magnificent performance from pitcher Greg King, who muffled the Plymouth offense en route to a tight 1-0 Nobles win at Jerome Grounds. King, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The Premier AAA-leading Nobles have a record of 44-18.
The Rocks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Nobles going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Juan Lugo came to the plate. Lugo hit a solo home run on a 3-1 forkball from Plymouth hurler Lance Farmer. It was Lugo's 5th home run of the year.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said King.
