The Ottawa Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, courtesy of Victor Robertson. The right-hander helped his team stop the Richland Rails, 3-2. Robertson went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. The loss puts Richland at 1-1.
Ottawa third baseman Ed Dimock contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a slider into right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 3-0.
Afterward, Nationals manager Kelly Flint was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
