Skidding Golden Cranes Lose 6th Straight
Santa Barbara shortstop Harald Tijl had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tijl went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times, even as Baton Rouge beat the Golden Cranes, 7-5. Rainer Polonius came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Fernando Nava earned the save, his 8th.

Baton Rouge needed the clutch hitting of Maurice Wrightson to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass on top, 7-5. For the game, Wrightson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
