Rocks Lose Late, 3-1
|
Athletic Club KC and Plymouth played a hard-fought contest.
The Athletic Club KC Reserves took Plymouth pitcher Raúl González's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Plymouth Quarry. The final score had Athletic Club KC getting past the Rocks, 3-1. González went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Allen Werner, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings.
Athletic Club KC used the clutch hitting of William Lane to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reserves ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Lane said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
With the win over Plymouth, the Reserves improved to 16-17.
