The Port Huron Blitzkrieg did just enough to sneak past the Austin Black Mambas, 4-3, at Mamba Park. Port Huron pitcher Phil Stephens, in particular, had a standout performance. Stephens went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-0. Rich Walker earned the save for Port Huron, his 1st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for José Rivera? The Port Huron left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Blitzkrieg on top, 3-0. For the game, Rivera had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Stephens told the Port Huron News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
