The Monongahela Monsters downed the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 9-8. The hitting star was center fielder Gustavo Gonzáles. Gonzáles was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times for the Monsters. Todd Dean picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Larry Brown was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Mike Davidson, his 2nd.

Gonzáles had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 cutter from Larry Brown, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Monsters a 8-7 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Gonzáles.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Gonzáles, "but we got it done."

The win takes Monongahela to 2-2.
