The Starks grabbed a win, 5-3, at Crane Field, overcoming a fine effort from Santa Barbara pitcher Dan Seymour. Seymour went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Syracuse reliever Peace Addo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Todd Garrett was saddled with the loss. Mario Rosales nailed down his 1st save.

Syracuse used a clutch hit from Lorenzo Varela to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Varela said after the game.

Syracuse sits at 1-5.
